Palehua Trail Rides’ breathtaking mountain vista trail is waiting for you on Oahu’s sunny west side. Whether it’s your very first time in the saddle or you’re a confident rider, our guided walking horseback tour offers a peaceful, and totally unforgettable escape.

This is one of the only trail rides on Oahu that takes you into private conservation lands closed to the general public — a rare chance to see the island from a whole new perspective.

Our tours begin in the cool uplands of Kapolei, just above Ko Olina. As you ride along the Wai‘anae mountains, you’ll soak in sweeping views of the west and south shore coastline, spot wildlife, and experience the quiet beauty of a place most visitors never get to see.

All certificates are valid for one year from the purchase date.

Sunset Tour

Went on the sunset ride with Stephanie. We rode Lani and her daughter, Aloha, two push-button horses that know their jobs very well. Felt very safe and comfortable the entire ride. Stephanie got off her horse and offered to take photos of us with the sunset behind us. Very professional. Highly recommended!

Thank you all for a great time!

The whole experience was truly amazing! A beautiful drive into and out of the area. We were greeted by a very friendly staff and were fitted with head gear as part of the safety aspect of the ride. Very detailed instructions were given as to how the trail ride was set up as well as all safety concerns. One of the riders in our group had never been on a horse before and was a little nervous but she was put at ease by our outstanding trail guide Sam who kept her feeling secure and safe throughout the entire ride. Sam was amazing, very knowledgeable and pointed out all the interesting facts of the area and the horses. There were 3 in our group and we road Manny, Pokey, and we cant remember the 3rd horses name. Sorry! The whole experience was amazing and informative and a well thought out plan by the entire staff. Cost was reasonable and our ride lasted about 90 minutes with a stop for pictures taken of us by Sam. The trail ride was definitely the highlight of my vacation. Thank you all for a great time!!

Incredible Experience

Incredible experience. We stayed in town (Honolulu) for a few days and were ready for an adventure. Palehua did not disappoint! First, our GPS did not take us the right way. Turn left onto Umena to get to the gate. Did the trip in an Altima just fine, pay attention to dips and potholes and you’ll be fine. Incredible guide, view and overall experience. Port a potty by parking and hand washing station. Also gave the horses treats at the end of the ride. We had a few long horns and their babies cross our path during the trail. Some serious memory making moments and just what we needed ❤️❤️❤️ can’t wait to come back. Super easy to book. Highly highly recommend. Our horses were Mahina, Little Miss Aloha and Lani. All three were great. Kavina, our guide was knowledgeable, fun and overall amazing at ensuring we were all having a great time.

Wonderful Place!

Wonderful place! The horses are clearly taken care of and the guides were excellent. My horse was great too! We left at a perfect time for the sunset ride we did. The way up is through a neighborhood to a road leading up the mountain. There is a gate you must buzz through and halfway up past the gate it becomes unpaved. I wouldn't take an uber up because it would be a pain to get up there, and the walk down past the gate will be too long.
